About This Video

In this video I review the FIIO x SnowSky ECHO (not the Mini), and yeah—this is basically ECHO, but bigger + better. I go through the unboxing, the accessories (USB-A to USB-C cable, quick start guide, warranty card), and most importantly the build. The ECHO feels way nicer than the Mini: more solid, more premium in-hand, and overall just “nice” to hold. You also get a 2.4-inch IPS display with that retro cassette theme, plus multiple playback UI styles (cassette, “UV watch”/VU meter-looking one, etc.). Controls are up top, microSD is on the side (supports up to 256GB)… but fair warning, the spring is super strong—I literally launched my card and lost it. At least there’s around 7GB usable internal storage. For specs and sound, the ECHO uses dual CS43198 (Mini used dual CS43131). Bluetooth is still SBC-only, but it can work as a Bluetooth dongle, which is a nice practical bonus. Sound-wise, it’s a neutral-ish, slightly musical and fun tuning: bouncy bass with deep extension, neutral mids with a bit more thickness, and smooth treble with better extension/air compared to the Mini and the Disc. Technicalities are very good for the price—wider stage with better layering, solid imaging, and detail retrieval that’s more graceful than the Mini. If you want a retro offline DAP for wired playback, I recommend this—honestly, just get this instead of the Mini.
