Good morning and welcome to a real Monday “day in the life” as a stay-at-home mom—aka the kind of day that flies by because our district does late-start Mondays. All my kids are in school, so I’m trying to knock out the basics: groceries, dishes, and a quick reset of the house. I also totally forgot breakfast, looked up and it was 10:30, and I just went ahead and ate “lunch” early… which, spoiler, comes back to bite me with a little headache later. Once the kitchen was done, I rode that motivation wave and did a bit more tidying—putting away winter coats because it’s feeling springtimey, cleaning up the entry area, and taking out the trash. But I’m also very honest about how I work: I can’t truly relax and read if the house is a mess. I even caught fingerprints all over the sliding glass door (tiny people, you know) and had to wipe it down before I could film anything. Then laundry finished, so I folded while watching John Oliver like I always do on Mondays. After that, I did a little self-care moment—painted my turmeric-stained nails, did my makeup, grabbed ibuprofen and a snack, and pivoted dinner plans (no all-day crockpot potato soup today). I wrapped it up by prepping school lunches ahead of pickup time—banana muffins from the freezer and snacks in my tiny wet bags—because it makes the after-school rush so much less stressful.
