In this video I unbox and review the Dangbei MP1 Max, a pretty serious 4K home theater projector that Dangbei sent over. It shows up in a big box with an eco-friendly suitcase-style case, and the projector itself is chunky at about 5.6 kg—definitely feels premium. I go over the remote (with dedicated YouTube/Netflix/Prime buttons), the built-in stand that swivels (360° base and about 135° tilt), the ports (HDMI 2.1 eARC, HDMI 2.1, USB, headphone jack), and the hybrid triple-laser + LED setup that’s designed to reduce laser speckle. Then I actually test it the way most people will use it: first on a textured gray wall with some ambient light, and then on my 100-inch screen. The autofocus and auto keystone are fast, and the “fit to screen” feature is genuinely impressive—lined up perfectly without me fiddling. Picture-wise, the colors and detail in 4K and HDR10 look exceptional, and the brightness is strong even with lights on. I also check fan noise and it’s almost imperceptible close up, plus the built-in speakers surprised me with real volume and bass. My only real niggle is the Google TV UI can lag a bit (2GB RAM), but once content is playing, it’s a seriously impressive upgrade from my old 1080p BenQ.
