About This Video

In this video I’m sharing a little set of photos I took using the Kodak Ektar 100 film simulation recipe from Fuji X Weekly. I brought my Fujifilm along on a hike with my dad, and I wanted to see how this recipe renders in a real-world, outdoorsy setting. I’ll show the photos, talk through what I’m seeing, and then I display the recipe settings at the end (it’s also linked in the description if you want to grab it right away). What stood out to me is how warm this recipe feels, with a noticeable red tint. I personally like the vibe, but I also noticed the red tones can make green grass look a little dull, which is why I’m really curious to try it in a street setting next—especially around buildings where those warmer reds might feel more “right.” One important thing to know: this recipe uses Clarity, and Clarity can slow down the shooting experience. It wasn’t a problem for me on this hike because I wasn’t rushing or shooting bursts, but if you’re planning to shoot continuously, you might want to consider turning Clarity off.
