About This Video

Back in 2021, I wanted a photography-centric camera I could take literally everywhere—something compact and low profile—without jumping into a whole new ecosystem (I was already set for video with my Sony A7S III). The Fujifilm X100V ended up being exactly what I was looking for, and in this video I’m sharing what it’s been like using it over the past two years. I also walk through my actual X100V setup, because the way you kit this camera out can really change the experience—especially when it comes to filters and making it weather resistant. I break down what I love: the portability, the intuitive physical controls (like the aperture ring), the tilting LCD, and that built-in ND filter. Fuji colors and film simulations are a huge reason I’m here—film recipes make it so easy to send straight-out-of-camera JPEGs from my phone after a day out, but I also still love editing RAWs using my go-to presets. Then I get into the annoyances: sometimes I wish I had a different focal length (digital zoom doesn’t do it for me), and the lack of IBIS is very obvious in video. Finally, I answer the big question: I’m not upgrading to the X100VI, but if you’re choosing between the X100V and the new one in 2024, I’d tell you to just get the newer camera.
