It’s everybody’s favorite time of the month: TBR jar time. In this video I’m picking my April 2026 reads by pulling prompts from my jar, and I’m also doing a few of my usual monthly check-ins—like chatting through the April new releases that are on my radar (The Book Witch, The Rites of the Starling, Happy Ending, The Thorn Queen, and The Island Club). I also update you on how I’m thinking about my Kindle and audiobook TBRs going forward, because eight Kindle picks was honestly overwhelming and I kept forgetting what I even put on there. Then we get into the actual April TBR build: you guys chose my “pick of the month” (The Women by Kristin Hannah… I’m terrified in the way only a Kristen Hannah book can make you feel), and my prompts fill out the rest. For “a book with magic,” I immediately grab Oathbound by Tracy Deonn because I want to finish what’s out in the Legendborn Cycle and the second book left me needing answers. I also pull “my 2026 TBR” and choose Turtles All the Way Down by John Green for a shorter, calmer balance, plus Next of Kin by Hannah Bonam-Young, Best Offer Wins from my Kindle library to keep pushing myself with mystery, and I Cheerfully Refuse as my lit fic pick. Overall, it’s a really well-rounded, springy mix—and yes, April is purple, so Oathbound just makes sense.
