About This Video

In this week-long mood reading vlog, I’m basically embracing the chaos (in the best way) and picking up whatever I’m actually in the mood for day to day. I try to read mostly from my TBR cart while juggling a few very different vibes: Play Along by Liz Tomforde as my cozy-before-bed Kindle read, Crescent City 2 as my audiobook obsession (the graphic audio is outstanding), and Heart the Lover by Lily King as my book club pick with my friends Kristen and Olivia. Play Along honestly surprised me by being a complete level above the earlier Windy City books for me—Isaiah and Kennedy’s banter is just nonstop entertainment, and I love the found family feeling you get deeper into an interconnected series. Heart the Lover, though… that one got me. It starts out more character-based (very literary fiction), but once it hits, it hits—sad twist after sad twist, in the most human, real way. Lily King’s writing is straightforward but still leaves room to think, and I finished it absolutely adoring it. And because I’m me, I also start a new book mid-vlog: The Favorites by Lane Fargo, which is perfect timing with the Winter Olympics. The mixed media/interview format + audiobook narration made it feel like a Netflix doc, and I flew through it. By the end of the week, I read 693 pages total—chaos reading wins again.
