Welcome back to Bookmas day 9—aka my last “ultimate book video” of the year where we do a bunch of book stuff together and end the year off strong. I took you on a cozy little library + bookstore crawl (I’m lucky to have two libraries close by, and I hit both because I love checking the seasonal tables and librarian picks when I’m not sure what I’m looking for). Then we popped into Barnes & Noble because I knew there was one book I absolutely wanted to leave with. I hauled everything I picked up: a cheesy-fun holiday romance that feels like a comforting Netflix movie (The Royal Holiday), a graphic novel I grabbed because I’ve been loving Brie Pollson’s art and storytelling (The Firelight Apprentice), and a short-and-sweet holiday rivals/second chance situation I’m really curious about (All I Want Is You). From the bookstore, I finally bought Oathbound to keep devouring the Legendborn cycle—even though I’m slightly annoyed it’s not paperback yet. I also read and rated The Most Wonderful Crime of the Year and it ended up being one of my favorite holiday romances because the mystery element makes it feel fresh (and the audiobook is seriously where it shines). To wrap it all up, we got into reading journal time: I updated trackers and finished my July & August spreads, complete with squiggles, little cutout letters, and a reminder that mistakes are honestly fine because this is just for fun.
