This day trip from Tokyo to Kamakura didn’t exactly go as planned. It started out calm and full of good energy, but somewhere along the way things just fell apart. Crowds and rain (a lot of rain!) hit harder than expected — guess that’s part of real travel :) Even though it wasn’t the picture perfect Kamakura vlog I had imagined after watching a lot of other videos from this town, it turned into something more honest — a real glimpse of what solo travel in Japan can be like when things don’t go smoothly. There’s a short Q&A at the end too, where I answer some of your questions about traveling Japan and my mindset on days like this so I hope you enjoyed it regardless. *LINKS & DISCOUNTS* Organic Basics https://organicbasics.pxf.io/POBNDz Code: KATHARINA10 RUNNA https://web.runna.com/redeem?code=KATHARINA Code: KATHARINA (2-week free trial) Electrolytes and vitamins: https://www.supplme.com code: KATHARINA15 Sqaurespace: https://squarespace.com/katharina code: KATHARINA10 *VIDEO INFO* Filmed with DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and Iphone 17 Pro Edited in Final Cut Pro X Music: Epidemic Sound – https://share.epidemicsound.com/n23faf *LET'S CONNECT* Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/katharinaschneiderr/ Strava – https://www.strava.com/athletes/67275176 All business inquiries at contactkschneider@gmail.com Chapters 0:00 intro 0:29 from Tokyo to Kamakura 2:07 Shrines and rainfall 4:34 Street food 6:12 Hase 8:36 debrief 10:39 Staying optimistic 11:50 I just want to go home 13:14 Skincare and q&a

About This Video

I finally took a day trip from Tokyo to Kamakura — a place that’s been on my bucket list for so long — and honestly… it didn’t turn into the dreamy, picture-perfect vlog I had imagined. I started the morning with really good energy (and of course a matcha), wandered through a beautiful shrine where the rain made everything feel extra calm, and planned to do the iconic little train + beach scenery. But the weather had other plans, and so did the crowds. Once the rain properly hit and the Enoden train area got insanely packed, my social anxiety just couldn’t deal. I changed plans on the spot, tried (and failed) to find lunch at a bunch of places, and eventually saved the day by going off the main road and finding a super cozy ramen spot — genuinely such good value and exactly what I needed to warm up. In the end I got absolutely soaked, headed back home, and turned the vlog into something more honest: a little debrief plus a Q&A about how I’m doing in Tokyo, long-distance relationships, feeling lost in your 20s, and why I’m trying to keep running fun instead of turning every race into a PB-obsession. Sometimes travel is messy — and that’s still real life.
