In this video I’m checking into TRIBE Auckland, a brand new boutique hotel that’s literally just opened in the CBD on Fort Street. I booked an Essential room (the windowless, more affordable option) for $170 NZD, but when I arrived the team were lovely and upgraded me for free to a Max City View room. I walk you through the whole space—from the industrial, urban-traveller design (dark metal, bold blue tones, huge mirrors and loads of power points) to the massive TV, coffee station (I don’t drink coffee, but I appreciated the hot chocolate and the fridge), and the practical storage setup (including space under the bed for suitcases). I also give you my honest pros and cons after staying the night. The bed was comfy and firm (exactly how I like it), the shower felt fresh and new with Kevin Murphy products, and the location is genuinely brilliant for restaurants and bars. But because it’s week one, there were a couple of glitches: missing lounge furniture in the nook (it’s on its way from overseas), only one chair at first (they brought extras up straight away), a small lift, and a toilet flush mechanism that kept refilling. I also talk about the no-wardrobe setup, the WhatsApp-style messaging instead of in-room phones, and who I think this hotel suits if you’re after central, affordable, cozy city vibes.
