In this video I’m doing a slightly different kind of afternoon tea… because I’m having it at 40,000 ft in the air on a Qatar Airways Business Class flight in Qsuites, flying Doha to London Heathrow. I’ve done around 50 afternoon teas now, so when the crew offered “afternoon tea” mid-flight, I genuinely couldn’t resist. It’s not sponsored — I’m just a regular customer — and I wanted to see what “afternoon tea in the sky” is actually like and whether it’s worth trying if you’re flying Qatar. I walk you through the full tray: three finger sandwiches, two little pâtisserie items, and two mini scones with butter, strawberry jam, and (my all-time favourite) clotted cream. I’m honest about what worked and what didn’t — some of the sandwiches felt a bit dry (probably the long-haul/altitude situation), and the fillings were quite “resourceful” and not as exciting as a luxury hotel tea. But the sweet items were the highlight for me: a chocolate mousse-style pastry with hazelnut notes, plus a super chilled vanilla/fruit mousse that looked surprisingly immaculate for a plane. I finish, of course, with a plain scone loaded with clotted cream first, then jam (yes, controversial), and give you my overall verdict: it’s quirky, fun, and a really nice idea when you want something light before landing.
