About This Video

In this episode of Jason’s Bricks in 5, I’m in Denver, Colorado at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to check out Brick Planet: A Magical Journey with LEGO Bricks. It’s a temporary exhibition of massive LEGO sculptures and art, all created by Sean Kenney, and I wanted to see if it was worth the trip (and the ticket price) for a LEGO fan—especially someone like me who’s always thinking about city building, parts usage, and display space. Inside, I walk through a bunch of themed areas and point out some of the wildest builds and their scale: a lifesize bicycle with a “road” made of tiny vehicles, a huge monarch caterpillar, a 75,000-brick dodo bird, and an Arctic section with penguins and polar bears—including one build that’s listed at 133,000 bricks and over 1,000 hours. There’s also a nature section with a praying mantis and a hanging spider (not a favorite for Fiberton gal), plus some clever pieces like a “disappearing rhino” you can watch appear and disappear as you move around it. My LEGO City heart was happy when I spotted the Times Square display (ambulance, billboards, the whole vibe), and the exhibit ends with some interactive areas for kids and a giant botanical-style build. Overall, it came complimentary with museum entry (about $25 per adult when I went), and I was pretty happy with it—if you’re in the area before it leaves, I think it’s worth checking out.
