About This Video

In this episode of Jason’s Bricks in 5, I’m walking you through my experience building the BrickLink Designer Program set Sequoia Tree Trail (910058). This one showed up two days before I filmed, and I couldn’t wait—I went from “eh, it’s okay” to “yeah, I want that” the closer we got to the purchase window, and I’m glad I grabbed it. It’s a very different build compared to most sets: a small ranger station, a big sturdy base, and then a whole lot of tree building—especially the last bags, which are basically dedicated to the two massive sequoias. I also share why this set hit me right in the nostalgia. I went to Sequoia National Park as a kid and later took my own kids, so details like the hollowed-out fallen tree “tunnel” and the trail signage really landed for me. The wildlife selection is wild—birds, squirrels, owl, snake, frogs, snails, and even a banana slug (my daughter was pumped about that)—though I do have one minor complaint: no rabbit. From a builder’s perspective, the tree techniques were the standout. The big trees are modular, surprisingly sturdy, and built without a Technic core—lots of SNOT bricks stacked with plates to shape the trunk. I also talk minifigs, stickers, display challenges (it’s tall—about Haunted House height), and my experience using the online instructions.
