About This Video

In this episode of Jason’s Bricks in 5, I’m reviewing another Pantasy set—85028, the Hand Crank Sewing Machine. It’s a 1,360-piece, vintage-style sewing machine build that’s honestly something we don’t see very often in brick form, and Pantasy did a pretty good job capturing the look. The big highlight is the functionality: you crank the handle, the gears turn, and the needle actually goes up and down. Even though I don’t sew (unless you count maybe a button once in my life), it’s still a really satisfying mechanism to see working. I also talk through the build experience, including the Technic-style techniques used for the gearing. My wife helped with the base and didn’t find it too overwhelming, and I built the upper portion with the needle assembly—so if you’re comfortable with Technic, you’ll be totally fine here. One quirky callout: there’s a gold greebled piece that’s basically wedged in (not stud-attached), and the instructions show inserting it and then removing it—my advice is don’t bother taking it out once it’s in. Beyond the main model, there’s a little scene on the back with a seamstress and some simple-but-effective thread spools, plus lots of chrome silver and gold for that vintage luxury vibe. It’s $79.99 on Amazon, and I share a 10% off code for viewers if you want to grab something unique and display-worthy—with no stickers, just printed elements.
