I loved the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory as a child, but do I love this set? You can contact me directly via email at jasonsbricksin5@ gmail.com Follow me on instagram at jasons_bricks_in_5 Checkout my Bricklink store: https://store.bricklink.com/JasonsBricksin5

About This Video

In this episode of Jason’s Bricks in 5, I share my thoughts after finally building the LEGO Ideas Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory set (21360). It’s a little over 2,000 pieces and it’s basically LEGO leaning hard into adult nostalgia again—which honestly is usually a win for me, because I grew up watching Willy Wonka all the time. I picked this one up on a pretty deep discount (about $70 off), and I wanted to talk through why I think it’s gotten mixed reviews and why it seemed to hit sales quickly after release. I go over what I like—like the minifig selection (my favorite look is Mike TV), the golden ticket details, and the chocolate waterfall feature with the crank. But I also talk about where it feels like a missed opportunity compared to other display sets like the Goonies Ideas set. The front captures the “edible room” vibe okay, but the back doesn’t have a ton going on, and I would’ve loved more iconic rooms and scenes from the movie instead of what we got (including the Wonkatania boat…which is still a traumatic scene from my childhood). My takeaway: it’s not a bad set, but I’d wait for a good gift-with-purchase, double points, or a discount if you’re on the fence.
