My wife recently started building a few of the architecture sets, including the Neuschwanstein Castle. Today I share my thoughts on the build. About This Video

In this episode of Jason’s Bricks in 5, I’m talking about LEGO Architecture 21063 Neuschwanstein Castle—except it’s not actually my set, it’s my wife’s birthday set, and she just finished most of the build over about five days. I’m usually the “just build it in one go” type, but she’s more of a build-a-bit-and-come-back builder, and it was fun watching the progress. What surprised me is that we’ve never really been an Architecture-line household, but this one clicked for her because we’ve actually been to Neuschwanstein—rain, hiking up the hill to save money, and all the early-marriage travel memories included. From a build perspective, I share what stood out: the hill is basically hollow inside, and you build the outer shell and then stack the castle on top. The designers also use some clever offset plates to hit angles that aren’t your typical 90-degree LEGO geometry, plus there are lots of printed elements (I didn’t hear anything about stickers), and a ton of headlight bricks—enough that my wife said her fingers got tired. There are also neat little “Easter egg” micro-details like the grotto and a tiny interior scene, even though this isn’t a modular-style model. It’s pricey (around $279.99 for roughly 3,400–3,500 pieces), but if the subject matter speaks to you, it’s a really sharp display build.
