About This Video

In this week’s Bricking News episode (season 4, episode 42), Alex and I kick things off with the usual chaos—new shirts, old-guy thoughts, and the very real AFOL worry of “please don’t sell my LEGO for cheap when I’m gone.” We end up going down a surprisingly practical rabbit hole about what a collection (or a BrickLink store) is actually worth if you had to sell it fast versus parting it out. I share my BrickLink store value at $17,821 (and that’s not even counting inventory I haven’t added yet), while Alex pulls up his at around $8,000. It’s a good reminder: bulk cash today is convenient, but you’re leaving money on the table compared to piecing things out. The big headline topic is the rumor of a LEGO “smart brick”—a 2x4-style brick with sensors, lights, possible app connectivity, RFID minifigures, and even wireless charging. I’m cautiously optimistic because innovation is cool… but I’m also side-eyeing the price jump (we’re talking potentially $40–$60 added to a set) and the long-term battery/longevity question. As adult collectors, a lot of us just want solid builds and minifigs—not another gimmick that’s only useful in one theme. We also do a quick, non-scientific ranking of a few animal-costume-style CMF pulls (lion, bunny, dolphin, fish), then wrap with a poll on which early-2026 sets people are most excited for—modulars, Speed Champions, CMF, and “other,” with comments shouting out things like the Friends Garden Restaurant, BrickLink Designer Program sushi restaurant, and more.
