Lightroom is full of sliders that look simple, but they don’t behave the way most people think. In this video I break down five sliders I see photographers misuse all the time, and the real goal behind all of it: a balanced image that looks natural and intentional—without that crunchy, overedited vibe. I start with what I honestly think are the two most powerful sliders in Lightroom: Exposure and Contrast. Most people move them in isolation, but they actually affect each other (and your perceived saturation) in a big way. From there I get into Texture, Clarity, and Dehaze—three tools that have been meme’d into people being scared of them, even though they’re insanely useful when you understand what they’re targeting. I show you how I combine negative clarity with positive texture to take the clinical sharpness off modern lenses and get that softer, vintage, filmic render—dreamy overall, but still with microcontrast and pop. And I finish with a couple of practical tricks: using Dehaze to reveal sensor dust for easier cleanup (especially if you print), and using the preset “Amount” slider properly so you can dial any preset in instead of fighting it.
