This is one of the Thypoch Simera f/1.4 lenses I couldn’t stop using once I finally gave it a proper test. You get modern coatings and sharpness, but with a hint of vintage character—plus that 3D pop render I love. The flare control is beautiful and the bokeh wide open is genuinely stunning.
Pros
- +Modern sharpness without looking clinically sharp
- +Pleasing roll-off toward the edges
- +Controls harsh light well with attractive flare
- +Strong subject separation and bokeh at f/1.4
- +Looks fantastic on the Nikon Zf (full metal, compact)
Cons
- -Manual focus only
- -I don’t recommend the Z-mount version versus M-mount + adapter
