I've loved the Derwent Drawing for years... so I finally got my hands on the full 24 color set and immediately had to fill a spread in this mixed media sketchbook with master studies, focused on (mostly, but not only) Pre-Raphaelite art for its deep, vibrant colors. An earthy color wheel, limited palette experiments, lots of portraits, figures, and landscapes... I hope you join me with your own favorite colored pencils and sketchbooks. ❤️✏️ Shop & Portfolio : https://www.evydraws.com/shop Patreon : https://www.patreon.com/EvelynePark (Print Memberships & Sketchbook PDFs) Instagram : https://www.instagram.com/evydraws/ Etsy: https://evydraws.etsy.com https://www.inprnt.com/gallery/evybak/ (shipping prints to the EU and US) A note on references: While the theme for this sketchbook spread was 'Pre-Raphaelite' inspired, I also included a study of Gustav Klimt's Judith I (Art Nouveau), and while the other artists align with the Pre-Raphaelite art movement and/or were influenced by it, they were NOT members of the actual Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. ✧ ART MATERIALS ✧ Derwent Drawing: https://amzn.to/4mO4jN8 * Strathmore Sketchbook: https://amzn.to/3VfLDtm * My camera: https://amzn.to/4gOwIR1 * * I may earn commissions for purchases made through links above * #sketchwithme #artprocess #coloredpencils #derwent ✧ TIMESTAMPS ✧ 00:00 my all-time favorite colored pencil 01:37 Derwent Drawing 24 02:56 color swatches & lightfastness 07:00 color triads 07:45 color studies (pre-raphaelite edition) 11:30 Klimt & texture 15:00 color wheel (?) 17:45 paper choices... 19:40 sketchbook spreads VS single sketches 22:25 facial expressions & art style 26:40 blending and details 28:38 portrait sketch ✧ MUSIC ✧ Chillpeach - Loading : https://youtu.be/1t1Rp9Nx--M?si=oUJ3J_Z1LOhGOW2C Chillpeach - Purple : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWNx0VQJjMY & YouTube Audio Library

About This Video

I’ve loved Derwent Drawing coloured pencils for years, so in this sketch-with-me I finally sit down with the full 24-colour set and do what I always want to do when I get new materials: make a whole little “getting to know you” spread. I start with swatches (because I need to see what the colours actually look like on paper), talk about lightfastness, and then play with a few colour triads so the palette feels less overwhelming and more like something I can actually use for finished-looking studies. From there, I fill my mixed media sketchbook with master studies inspired by that deep, earthy, jewel-toned vibe I love in Pre-Raphaelite paintings—portraits, figures, and little landscape moments—plus a quick detour into Klimt’s Judith I for texture and pattern. I also chat through paper choices (because these pencils can behave really differently depending on the tooth), and the whole “sketchbook spreads vs. single sketches” question—how I plan pages, keep things cohesive, and still let myself experiment. If you’re looking for a cozy art vlog that’s also a practical coloured pencil deep-dive, this one’s basically my love letter to an earthy limited palette.
