I’m starting a brand new sketchbook page (actually, two pages) with some very necessary fanart: stylized portraits inspired by KPop Demon Hunters. This video is a cozy sketch-with-me where I break in a lay-flat A5 mixed media sketchbook from Arrtx, because I really wanted that seamless spread experience—so I can draw right across the gutter and not fight the book the whole time. As I draw, I talk through how I approach stylized portraits when the source is an animated film: what features I like to push, what changes make the biggest impact fastest (without losing the character), and how linework vs. rendering choices steer the final “style.” I also test the sketchbook with a mix of supplies—colored pencils, acrylic markers, pastel alcohol markers, and watercolor—so you can see how it handles layering and mixed media on one spread. If you’re starting a new sketchbook, or you’ve been wanting to loosen up your portrait stylization, this one is meant to feel like a gentle, practical drawing session you can follow along with.
