In this sketchbook tour, I’m finally putting all my sketches from this year in one place—and yes, the video got long because the sketchbook pile got kind of ridiculous. I flip through everything from quick pencil portraits and tiny figure studies to bigger gouache pages, mixed media experiments, and even some watercolor “cat landscapes” (I can’t believe that sentence is real, but here we are). I also show the sketchbooks I finished, the ones I abandoned halfway (with love), and the one that was honestly the most important for keeping me drawing consistently. If you’re someone who uses multiple sketchbooks at once, this is basically me justifying that lifestyle: different paper for different moods, different sizes for different days, and a few books that surprised me—both in a good way and in a “why did I do this to myself” way. I talk about what worked, what didn’t (including some watercolor regrets), and what I want to carry into the new year—especially turning some of these concepts and character sketches into finished illustrations.
