I finally finished this old sketchbook, with art style changes, new art materials and experiments, ever since 2019... This is a very personal sketchbook tour, as this little book was my companion through many ups and downs, and I hope you enjoy seeing this slow evolution and how it became a very colourful, joyful, creative outlet! ❤️ I'll also chat about future sketchbook plans and what I learned from filling this one! I started out using watercolours by Winsor & Newton, Schmincke, and later added Daniel Smith, as well. ShinHan, a Korean brand, also shows up here a lot, with lots of cheaper watercolours, acrylics, and a single shade of white postercolour. For most of my Switzerland (and beyond) gouache travel sketches, I used this small set by Caran d'Ache: https://amzn.to/4mS1WZU Later, I added Holbein gouache and Neocolor II to my mixed media: Winter palette: https://amzn.to/3HZQUCC Autumn palette : https://amzn.to/4pNKDL3 My camera : https://amzn.to/4gSCFfM * I may earn commissions for purchases made through links above * #sketchbook #artstyle #sketchbooktour ✧ TIMESTAMPS ✧ 00:00 a finished sketchbook... 01:49 earliest pages - 2019 03:08 not-really-travel-sketching in 2020 05:08 art classes & other sketchbooks 07:50 still stuck in 2020... 09:11 more art classes 11:00 jump into acrylic paints! 12:30 oil pastels? in my watercolour sketchbooks? 13:30 embracing a bit of chaos 16:00 travel sketching, but really now 19:10 it felt unfinished... 20:04 return to watercolours 21:00 art improvement? 23:50 mixed media & final pages! 27:39 sketchbook plans & lessons learnt ✧ MUSIC ✧ Chillpeach - 2:00 AM : https://youtu.be/rKi3oL2UDew?si=rAcVVaQdthn-WVrD Chillpeach - One thing : https://youtu.be/tzhKxUxsIJs?si=eaMCeMdXUQ6fnRS6 Chillpeach - Loading : https://youtu.be/1t1Rp9Nx--M?si=oUJ3J_Z1LOhGOW2C Chillpeach - Taiyaki : https://youtu.be/zde7oFYW4Zg?si=8sVTUCcrUMwBruBi Chillpeach - Purple : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWNx0VQJjMY

About This Video

I finally finished this sketchbook that’s been with me since 2019, and this flip-through is… honestly pretty emotional. It’s not just a “look at my old drawings” kind of video—this little book followed me through a lot of ups and downs, and you can really see my art style changing in real time. I go page by page through the earliest watercolor studies, the long stretches where I felt a bit stuck (hello, 2020), and the moments where I tried to shake things up with classes, new approaches, and a bit of “okay, let’s just try it” energy. Along the way I talk about the art supplies that show up throughout the sketchbook—Winsor & Newton, Schmincke, Daniel Smith, and a lot of ShinHan experiments—and how my relationship with materials changed as I got more confident. There’s a whole phase where I jump into acrylics, then get brave (or chaotic) with oil pastels inside a watercolor sketchbook, and later I come back around to watercolor again with a clearer sense of what I actually enjoy. I also share what I learned from finishing a sketchbook this slowly, why it still felt “unfinished” at one point, and what my future sketchbook plans look like after all these mixed-media detours.
