About This Video

I usually play bass, but in this video I’m checking out a seriously cool T-style guitar built by my dear friend Per Aldervi. Just to be crystal clear: Per isn’t paying me for this—I'm doing it because he’s a good friend and I wanted to showcase a really unique build. The big story here is the wood: the top is made from 300-year-old pine that spent the last three centuries as a door up in Jämtland, Sweden. Per literally took down the door and turned it into a guitar, and yes—I show photos of the original door. Spec-wise it’s a pine body (pine top and back), maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard, Gotoh bridge and tuners, and pickups by Seven Engineering. What surprised me most is how it feels: I expected a chunky “baseball bat” neck, but it’s actually slim and fast—almost super-strat vibes. It’s super resonant and just an absolute joy to play. For tones, I ran it into my SSL 2+ and used Archetype Plini to demo bridge, middle position, neck, and the bridge with the tone rolled off a wee bit. The bridge pickup can definitely chug if you want it to, and overall it’s a really fun, raw-looking nitro white build that I’m genuinely happy to share.
