In this video I finally break down my one-off custom multi-scale bass: “The Arkötude”. It’s heavily inspired by the Yamaha Attitude Limited series, but it’s not a production model and there will only ever be one made—built to my specs by Pär Börang (Bass Doc). I also bring you along to the Karlstad Guitar & Bass Show where the bass got its first real “live air” in front of people, and I talk a bit about tone, bass playing, and the whole vibe of the event. I go through the full build story from the first spark (seeing Pär’s first multi-scale with a straight P pickup) to the mockup my friend Nicke made, and all the decisions and compromises along the way. We landed on alder + roasted maple for that snappy feel, 36”–34” scale for down-tuning, and a stealth black theme with a matte nitro finish, ebony nut, fluorescent side dots, and lightweight Hipshot Ultralites. I explain the dual-output setup, the stacked volume/tone for the neck pickup, the string-through bridge, and why the straight P pickup on a multi-scale is the whole reason this bass exists: my thumb wants a familiar “home base”, and angled pickups always threw me off.
