In this video I’m checking out the Warwick MS 800 (MS800) multi-stage bass amp head. Quick disclaimer up front: Warwick sent it to me for a sponsored feature, but everything you hear me say is my own opinion. For the demo I’m using my Yamaha Attitude Limited 3 with DiMarzio Relentless pickups, going straight into the MS800 and then XLR DI into Logic Pro X—no post-processing on the tone (maybe a tiny bit of compression just to even things out). I walk through the front panel first: dual inputs with stacked gain, two channels you can switch between, drive, a 4-band EQ with selectable low-mid and high-mid frequencies, built-in tuner, Bluetooth for silent practice to headphones, compressor, two channel volumes, and a mute switch (your bandmates will probably appreciate that). Around the back I cover the cab sim options on the DI (1x12, 4x10 + horn, 1x15 + horn), FX loop with send/return level, aux in, DI with ground lift and pre/post, Speakon outs (don’t run two 4-ohm cabs), USB recording interface, footswitch options, and the crossover/bi-amp feature I’m excited to explore more later. Tone-wise, I like how flat and honest it sounds with the EQ set neutral, and the subtle drive feels more like tube-style grit than modern metal distortion. My main wish? A clean blend for the drive, because when you push it hard the low end can feel a bit lackluster. All in all though, I’m genuinely impressed—especially as a pedalboard/modeler-friendly platform.
