In Day 1 of this TruGolf APOGEE home golf simulator install, I’m walking you through the foundation work that makes the whole system perform right long-term—room prep, layout planning, and getting all the gear positioned correctly before we ever worry about calibration and software tuning. This room is the definition of a “man cave,” and we’re building it like we build our theaters and smart homes in Texas: clean, accurate, and future-proofed. I break down the key components in the space, including the custom 192-inch TruGolf impact screen, the APOGEE unit, a 1080p laser projector, a 70V-style amp setup for pendant speakers, plus a TV with a Sonos Beam and a gaming laptop so the client can run the sim or just watch YouTube/Netflix. I also get into the practical install details that people skip—like turf and hitting mat layout, impact screen spacing (don’t treat it like a home theater screen), and how we plan wiring in a post-construction project where we didn’t control the original infrastructure. We’re running speaker wire, video, and ethernet, and I call out a big one: long HDMI cables can be directional, so you’ve got to check “source” vs “monitor” before you pull it. Finally, I cover projector throw ratio and lens shift, and I recap Day 1 progress—including a small APOGEE height adjustment we’ll fix on Day 2 to stay in that 9–10 ft mounting window.
