In this build I’m walking through the software and hardware side of a next-level golf simulator using TruGolf APOGEE, and how we keep it clean and concealed like we do on real Texas projects. Instead of leaving a big tower PC sitting out, we used a really solid gaming laptop and tucked it inside a junction box so we can close it up and cover it with the TV. The APOGEE unit is hardwired to the network, and we set the laptop up so it can stay powered on even when everything is closed up—because the whole point is “out of sight, out of the way,” without sacrificing performance. On the software side, APOGEE gets installed on the PC and runs on a license that you renew, with updates and course additions happening automatically on the back end. I also show why we like having basic input devices on hand (mouse and keyboard), but the real win is the built-in AI voice control. That lets you pull up analytics, change angles, and navigate without walking back and forth—faster gameplay and more golf. Finally, we tie in audio the right way. We run audio out from the PC into a Sonos Amp feeding two in-ceiling speakers, and after trying a different approach, we landed on Sonos as the best way to connect into the rest of the system. With speakers and projector set, the next step is calibration.
