In this video I’m walking you through a massive smart home we’ve been building in Texas—Beaumont Stage 2—while it’s still under construction. We pre-wired it, we designed it, and now we’re in trim-out, so you’ll see the real stuff that matters: speakers already in the ceiling, access points and plates in place, and all the wiring labeled and certified so install day is clean and predictable. I also show how we’re wiring Lutron window treatments for dual-motor shades, so the homeowner can run a sheer and a room-darkening shade in the same opening. We get into multi-zone audio the way I like to do it—separate zones where you want them (bathroom, closet, etc.), but with the ability to combine everything when you’re entertaining. I explain how we can matrix TV audio into other rooms so you can keep listening while you move around the house. Then we step into the dedicated theater: a 7.2.4 setup with in-wall subs and real in-ceiling Atmos (I’m not a big fan of up-firing when you can do it right). I also talk about why the center channel is the most important speaker, why we upgraded to an acoustic screen, and why networking—especially hardwired Cat6 and outdoor access points—is the backbone of a reliable smart home.
