About This Video

Some projects are more than just a job—they’re a privilege. In this video, I walk you through a purpose-driven smart home/AV installation we completed alongside the Tunnels To Towers Foundation, a mission built to honor the sacrifice of Steven Seiler and to keep serving veterans and first responders by restoring independence through functional, accessible living spaces. For us, this wasn’t about showing off gear—it was about using technology to help people feel at home, stay connected, and build community. I break down how we designed the common areas with separate audio/display zones so staff and residents can shape the atmosphere throughout the building—dining, lounge, and foyer all have their own speaker zones for flexible control. We highlight the gym with a Control4 T4 touchscreen, in-ceiling audio, and a display so anyone can easily run their own music or watch what they want while they train. For connection and resources, we installed an Apollo conferencing setup with hardwired options, PTZ camera features like tracking and AI speaker focus, and simple operation—because simplicity matters. We also built a multi-purpose entertainment room that can split or combine: 5.1 surround with a 4K laser projector and retractable screen on one side, and a separate display/audio zone on the other. Every floor’s resident lounge gets its own display, speakers, touchscreen, plus standalone Bluetooth so each person can take control of their space.
