In this video I’m out at a modern barn-style home that’s still under construction (yes, there’s literally a forklift in the living room) and we’re coming down to the finish line on a full Control4 smart home integration. I walk you through how I use the Control4 T4 touchscreen as the main user interface, and how Control4 is built out by “rooms” so you can tap into a space and immediately see what you can control—video, audio, lighting, and more. The big takeaway is that all the Control4 UIs work together: what I do on the T4 happens on the app and vice versa. I demo the “Watch” experience with quick controls and shortcuts—hit Netflix and the TV powers on and jumps straight in. Then I show whole-home audio in the living room, including Stealth Acoustics invisible speakers (the fun part is trying to find them) and a Klipsch center channel mounted under the TV, because that center speaker is where your vocals live and it’s the most-used speaker in the room. We also talk display tech with a massive 100” Samsung QN80F, and why I still prefer using a Roku as the streaming device so the TV can just be a display and you avoid the lag that can come as TV firmware and apps age. I wrap up with a look at centralized lighting and scenes—plus one of the coolest “art” lighting panels I’ve seen on a project like this.
