About This Video

In this video I break down how I actually find freelance video clients right now in my career, and I’m keeping it real: it wasn’t easy to build a consistent work base. I’m still growing, I don’t have “tons” of clients, but I do have the right clients—high paying clients that don’t try to lowball me every single time. And the way I’ve been landing them isn’t the same cookie-cutter advice you always hear. My number one source is my highlight reel, and I’m super intentional about it. I keep it short (under a minute) because everybody’s attention span is cooked now—TikTok, Shorts, Reels… it is what it is. I also make different reels depending on what I’m going for: events, corporate interviews, and narrative work (still building that one). Then I talk about ProductionHub (yes, I pay for it and it’s gotten me a lot of jobs), my YouTube channel (only a couple jobs so far, but it’s proof it can work), and a super slept-on one: building a relationship with your local rental house. And I also tell you what I don’t do: cold calling production companies, DM’ing a bunch of people, and going to filmmaker meetups. I’m an introvert, and I’d rather land 2–3 clients paying $6–8k/month than chase 6–7 low budget jobs. Bigger budget clients is the goal.
