About This Video

Day three of this event was basically nonstop sit-down interviews—booked from the first one at 8:20 a.m. all the way until the last interview around 2:00 p.m. Since we were overbooked, I ended up doing some “quick” interviews in the hallway just so we didn’t have to turn people down. And that’s where the real event-work chaos kicks in: shifting light, people walking through frame, interviews getting cancelled last minute, and clients asking for stuff that just isn’t going to make the final video look good. A big takeaway from this vlog is learning when to tell a client “no” (without being difficult). They wanted to reuse a backdrop from an earlier interview, but by lunch it was covered in cups, napkins, plates, and coffee machines—so I pushed back and found a cleaner frame with more depth. I also talk through how I’m thinking about using natural light as a key, why I’ll switch to manual focus in busy hallways, and how I handled the weird stuff like a color-changing sign in the background. It’s a real look at how I make quick decisions on paid gigs to protect the image and keep the client happy.
