About This Video

In this video, I’m walking you through the top 10 beginner RV mistakes I see (and yes, I’ve made plenty of them myself) before you hit the road. I’m Deb with Deb’s RV Services—certified RV inspector and registered technician—and my goal is to help you avoid the kind of “roadside disaster” that turns a fun trip into a stressful mess. We start with the big safety items like tire pressure and sidewall checks, making sure you’re fueled up smart (so you’re not squeezing into a tight city gas station), and doing a real route + weather check so you’re not surprised by wind gusts or storms. Then I cover the stuff that’s easy to forget but causes the most headaches: a full pre-trip walk-around (doors, cargo bays, awning, vents, slides, windows), confirming you’re not over your weight limits, and securing everything inside so cupboards don’t explode when you arrive. I also show you how I test lights, brakes, and connections (including that seven-way pin that loves to be “almost” plugged in), plus why I always carry extension cords and dog bones. Finally, I talk batteries, water, propane, and yes—your snacks and drinks—because being prepared is what keeps you safe and sane. Stick around for the free downloadable pre-trip checklist at the end.
