In this Deb’s Corner update, I’m finally closing the loop on three things that have been driving me (and probably you) nuts: my AC drama, my Lazy Daze step that broke again, and an inverter install that turned into a full-on nightmare. The good news first—my air conditioner is fixed for real. The unit replacement worked, but the breaker kept popping on hot days, so I ordered a new breaker and swapped it myself (with everything shut down: no shore power, no 12V, no 120V). Once that breaker was replaced, the AC has been running with zero issues. Next up: the infamous fiberglass step. My “temporary” fix lasted about a year, then failed again. I was bungeeing it up just to limp to a shop, because most techs wouldn’t touch fiberglass. I found an awesome small shop in Loveland, Colorado (Felker Hitch & Welding) and asked them to build a metal bracket solution tied into the frame—and they nailed it. They stabilized both sides, and I’m not worrying about stairs anymore. Finally, I break down what went wrong (three visits!) installing my Victron MultiPlus 2. Biggest takeaways: test off shore power, use the correct AC ports, don’t yank wires, and make sure your wire gauge can handle the load—because undersized wiring can become a fire hazard. As an inspector, that’s going straight into my “things I look for” list.
