About This Video

In this video I brought you along on a full, behind-the-scenes inspection of a brand new 2025 Newmar Dutch Star—first look and all. I walk through how I open slides (I set a camera outside so I can watch the mechanism while I’m inside), check awnings, run appliances, and start working my way around the exterior bay-by-bay. And yes… I had a ladder FAIL. I dropped the ladder right on my foot (ouch), which is why I’m always preaching: these Newmars are tall, and sometimes you just need help instead of trying to be a hero. I show you exactly how I test systems the way I do in a real inspection: I run the furnace early (even when it’s hot out), I test each A/C one at a time and do a delta-T, and I keep water running long enough to catch the “little tiny drip” leaks that don’t show up right away. On the outside I’m checking tires (size, date codes, PSI, pressure readings), underbelly/steering components, and the engine compartment. Inside, I’m running the washer, dishwasher rinse, induction burners, fans, outlets, shades, and more. Bottom line: this Dutch Star was mint overall. I noted leveling jack excessive slope and some slide wiper blades not fully extracted, and I also showed you how I double-check things so I’m not writing up my own user error. This is why inspections take hours—and why they save you from expensive surprises.
