This inspection wasn't just about the RV—it was about what the dealership didn't do. In this episode, I’m inspecting a 2017 Winnebago Sunstar for out-of-state clients, and what I found wasn't just about the RV's condition—it was about the dealership's tactics and lack of preparation. From unhooked utilities to a missing anode rod, this inspection revealed more than expected. The dealership later told my next client they don’t prep RVs for inspectors and even suggested that hiring an inspector was a waste of money. I’m here to show you why that’s not only false—but risky. You'll hear exactly what went wrong, why it matters, and what YOU should do if a dealership gives you the runaround. Plus, I share some valuable tips on how to protect your investment before you buy. 👉 Want to do your own RV inspection but don’t know where to start? About This Video

In this video I’m walking you through a 2017 Winnebago Sunstar inspection that turned into a lesson on dealership tactics. My out-of-state clients hired me for an hourly checklist inspection because they didn’t want to buy a lemon. I sent my normal requirements ahead of time—electric, water, propane, a good battery, and access to a spigot—because I need the RV prepped so I can inspect it, not spend your paid time “putting the RV together.” When I arrived, nothing was hooked up, the low-point drains were dumping water, and the water heater was missing the anode rod. I had to pull the dealership in just to find a valve buried under the bed—because I’m not going to start taking things apart during an inspection. Once I could actually inspect, I found cracked and failing sealant all over (sidewalls, roof caps, trim areas), 9-year-old tires that needed replacement, wipers that were shot, a water pump that wouldn’t hold pressure, and signs of possible prior water damage in an upper cabinet. My client walked away—and I don’t blame them. The bigger issue came after: the dealership told my next client they “don’t prep RVs for inspectors” and even suggested hiring an inspector is a waste of money. I explain why that’s risky, what you should require before an inspection, and why a dealership that won’t cooperate may be one you should walk away from.
