About This Video

Lately I’ve been in pure experimentation mode in the studio—trying stuff, breaking stuff, and figuring out what actually fits my workflow. This video starts with a simple idea: my mini grip cart. It’s basically the stuff I use too often to hide in a drawer—tape (a lot of tape), clamps, sticky tack, grip heads, fishing wire, spray bottle… the little problem-solvers that make product shoots possible. I’m even thinking about turning that into a quick reel series where I show what I use and why, but honestly the grip cart was mostly an excuse to make something and play with camera angles, editing, and behind-the-scenes coverage. The bigger studio has been a game-changer for BTS. In my old space, there were maybe one or two spots to place a camera—here I can go high, low, wide, tight, far, close, and actually let the creative juices flow. I also talk about where I’m pulling inspiration from right now and how I’m trying to evacuate the “what gets views?” mindset. I’ve been burnt out, and I’m focused on making things I’d enjoy watching (or at least enjoy making), letting videos breathe, and leaning into more of a fly-on-the-wall vibe. To cap it off, I scramble to prep the studio for my friend Matt’s short film premiere—40 people, a projector, snacks, a mirror in the bathroom (finally), and a mini fridge idea that’s probably overdue.
