About This Video

I’m about a week into this studio transformation, and the big problem I had to solve first was light control. The windows in here are massive, and I figured I’d just pay a company to do professional blackout curtains… until I got the quote: over $10,000. So yeah—no. I went full DIY, grabbed a blackout curtain off Amazon for like 40–50 bucks, and tested it with a flashlight. It blocks way more light than I expected. There’s still a little leak at the top and a small gap at the bottom, but that’s nothing a bit of foam core and some tweaking can’t fix. I also talk about why I’m even making these more “stream of consciousness” studio vlogs. After years of super scripted, high-effort videos, I got burnt out and stuck in that mindset where every upload had to outdo the last. These videos are basically me building a runway again—staying in motion so that when the creativity hits, I’m already filming, importing, editing, and ready to go. On the build side, a lot happened: curtains on both sides, sound panels on the ceiling and walls, backdrops up, grip carts rolling in, shelves and workstations going together, and I’m experimenting with a collapsible tabletop setup using sawhorses. Still a ton left—mostly organizing—but we’re getting close.
