About This Video

All right, guys—welcome back. In this one I’ve got a Fender Acoustasonic on the bench, and the whole goal is simple: restring it, clean it up, and get it ready to resell here at my Mesa, Arizona buy/sell/trade shop. This is the Made in Mexico version (Ensenada), and even though there’s also a USA model, they’re basically the same idea. When I see an Acoustasonic, I always think of those old 80s band ballads—like the lead singer getting handed an acoustic for the “Two Steps Behind” moment—except this thing has electronics that could make studio recording super easy because you’re not fighting a mic setup. I walk through loosening the strings, pulling the bridge pins, and then dealing with what I actually see all the time in the shop: a dry, dusty fretboard. I hydrate it with Music Nomad F1 oil (I’ve used it a ton and it works great), wipe the body down with my guitar juice tonic, and then I throw on a fresh set of SIT 11–50 Prolite Golden Bronze 80/20 strings. After that, I plug it in and mess with the blend knob so you can hear how the tones change—this guitar has a lot of usable sounds and the blend works nicely. If you’re local and want it, it’s for sale—hit me up and I’ll see you guys in the next one.
