In this video I show you the stuff you absolutely have to do before you sell your guitar—because little problems will kill a sale fast, especially on a thousand-dollar instrument. I’m on the bench with a Fender USA Strat (sunburst, maple neck… about as iconic as it gets), and the first thing I do is test the electronics. Everything sounded good, but the output jack was loose, so I snug it up in about a minute. That’s the kind of “tiny” fix that keeps a buyer from walking, and yeah… Guitar Center would’ve charged you 80 bucks to do it. From there I check string height and neck relief, pull the old dirty strings, and give the truss rod a small snug to get things behaving. I shine up the frets with a little thousand-grit and a fret guard (nice and easy—let the sandpaper do the work), then clean the guitar with Guitar Juice Tonic and a microfiber cloth so it looks brand new. I also make sure the tuners are snug with a 10mm wrench, and I deck the trem by tightening the claw so it sits right. Finally, I throw on Fender Original 150’s (10–46), stretch them safely (protect your nuts), tune up to standard, and give it a strum—clean, tight, and ready to resell at Zim’s Guitars in Mesa, Arizona.
