About This Video

In this video I’m digging into a great big pile of ZYLtech Multi-Color Silk PLA—single, dual, and tri-color—and yeah… I’ve been waiting to use this prop for a long time. ZYLtech is out of Houston, Texas, so this is USA-made filament, and I’ve been running it for months. I’ve got the empty spools to prove it (27 at last count). I walk through where to find it on their site, what it costs (about $19.95 for 1kg), and what you can expect when it shows up at your door. I also cover the unboxing details that actually matter: vacuum-sealed spool, desiccant in the middle, and a really nice wind so you’re not fighting tangles. The plastic spools are a big win for AMS users—my Bambu Lab A1/A1 Mini folks are good to go with no adapter, and plastic spools behave better than cardboard in general. Then I get into dialing it in: I recommend drying it before use to cut down on stringing, and I run a temperature tower to find the sweet spot. On my Bambu testing, 220°C printed great but was a little stringy, and 215°C cleaned that up—so 215°C ended up being my go-to. I also talk about checking flow and retraction, and I call out the usual silk PLA reality: overhangs can be a little spicy, so plan accordingly. Bottom line: for the price, the look, and being made in the USA, I really do recommend giving it a shot—just remember to print safe.
