This is a different kind of video from me, because August absolutely knocked me flat. If you’ve watched my 3D printing videos for any length of time, you already know my cats were basically part of the channel—always sneaking into the background. I had three: Momma Cat (my elderly torti), Miss Molly (the fluffy fireball and photogenic wondercat), and Theodore (my big, chill tuxedo love bug). In early August, Momma Cat declined fast, and after trying antibiotics and supportive care, I had to make the brutal decision to send her to the Rainbow Bridge—four days shy of 18. She had a long, wonderful life, but it still wrecked me. Then, 22 days later, I lost Theodore after emergency treatment and surgery for recurring bladder stones. The follow-up complications turned into abdominal fluid buildup and exploratory surgery, and his heart stopped during the procedure. On top of the grief, I’m also dealing with the reality of the vet bills—about $1,500 for Momma Cat and around $2,500 for Theodore at my regular vet, plus the ER vet costs that had to be paid up front.
