Did you know that 3D printers release ultra-fine particles (UFPs) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the air? These harmful emissions can impact your health, causing inflammation and long-term exposure risks. But don’t worry—I’ve found an affordable, effective solution! In today’s video, I’ll be testing the Voxel Bento Box, a $35 2-stage HEPA & activated carbon filter that can dramatically reduce VOCs and UFPs inside your 3D printer enclosure. How well does it work? Let’s find out! 🔹 In this video, we’ll cover: ✅ The dangers of VOCs & UFPs from 3D printing ✅ How the Voxel Bento Box works to filter the air ✅ Real VOC test results – Does this filter actually work? ✅ Installation & setup guide for Bambu Lab, Voron, and other enclosures ✅ The best way to keep your prints safe & air clean! 🎥 Watch until the end for the full test results! About This Video

If you’re like me, you love 3D printing—but we also have to be real about what happens when we melt plastic. Ultra-fine particles (UFPs) and VOCs get released, and that’s not something I want in my lungs or vascular system. In this video I break down the practical ways to deal with it: enclosures help contain it, but then you still need to either vent outside or filter the air inside the enclosure. The problem is a lot of “real” fume extraction systems can cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. So I tested a budget option that caught my eye: the Voxel Bento Box, a 2-stage HEPA 13 + activated carbon filter that starts around $35 (or about $40 with the higher-flow 4028 fans). I show what’s in the kit, how the airflow path works (HEPA first, then carbon), and how easy the install is—especially in Bambu Lab and Voron-style setups, but it’ll work in plenty of other enclosures too. Then I ran VOC tests inside my sealed enclosure using a 3D Upfitters VOC logger (SGP30 sensor). The biggest spikes happen right at the start during the hotend purge—without filtration I saw surges over 10,000 ppb, and with the Bento Box running those spikes were nearly cut in half and dropped to safer ranges much faster. My takeaway: this is a simple, affordable way to mitigate a real hazard—so, as always, please print safe.
