About This Video

In this video I put the Anycubic Kobra S1 Combo through a real “maker workspace” test, not a quick benchy-and-done. Anycubic sent it to me for free for review, but my policy is the same every time: I run a couple hundred hours, I throw a bunch of different materials at it, and they don’t get to edit anything. I cover setup (including pulling the AMS out of the printer), first impressions like the plastic doors, and what it’s actually like loading filament—spoiler: the feeder wants way less “push” than your instincts do at first. From there I dig into the stuff that matters: print quality, speed, and the multi-color workflow. I printed a pile of PLA, PETG, ABS, and PCTG (I skipped ASA because I’d want a heated chamber for that), including cosplay-ish parts like an Iron Man helmet section and a whole multi-color nativity set. I also show how the Anycubic slicer feels basically like a custom Orca, how I use flow/bed/harmonics checks, and why purge volume settings can make or break faces and small color details. Bottom line: for under $500, getting a CoreXY, an AMS with a built-in dryer, a solid app, camera monitoring, and even basic spaghetti detection is a big value. I do call out pet peeves—like the LED timer, the sealed “dryer” with nowhere for moisture to vent, waste management, and a printhead that looks way too complex to want to service—but overall I think Anycubic has seriously stepped up their game.
