Everyone loves flying to Europe for Christmas markets… but we wanted to know if the magic exists right here on the East Coast. So Bob and I spent four nights hitting four different markets—Peddler’s Village (New Hope, PA), Philadelphia Christmas Village, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor Christmas Village, and the DowntownDC Holiday Market. Because we’re the Vancaskeys, we made rules: try one new holiday food or drink at each stop, buy one trinket for our memory box, and rate the “wow factor” based on vibe, atmosphere, Christmas spirit, and yes… the weather (because 26° “feels like 19” is a whole personality). We moochdocked, took public transit like we were being “European,” and chased mulled wine like it was our job. Philly brought the wooden huts and that classic market energy (plus a boot mug… eventually), Baltimore was way more chill with harbor views and actually-not-freezing temps, and DC surprised us with an amazing vibe, free admission by the Smithsonian, and our favorite drink of the whole trip. To cap it all off, Bob “bobified” mulled wine back at camp using the Ignik FireCan Deluxe (ammo-can style, compact, and actually warm), and we ranked everything—drinks, food, and the overall wow.
