Welcome back to part two of our Kentucky Bourbon Trail Challenge, and yes… today was a doozy. Yesterday we hit nine distilleries, and that meant we had to knock out 12 more in one day—with places not even opening until 10am and one closing at 4pm. I’m the DD (I don’t like alcohol, so it works out perfectly), and Bob’s basically speed-running tastings while we juggle parking, tight timelines, and the fact that we’re absolutely not doing this “the fair way” with full tours. We kicked things off at Stitzel-Weller (Blade and Bow, Pappy history, and a mini tour that was laid out really well), then got pulled into downtown Louisville where the museum at the official Kentucky Bourbon Trail starting point ate up way more time than we expected—because it was actually amazing. The biggest surprise of the day (and the one that shocked us the most) was Green River: the vibe, the speakeasy-style experience, and the whole “this is exactly why we’re doing it” moment shot it straight to Bob’s #1. From there it was a blur of Evan Williams, Old Forester, Angel’s Envy, Rabbit Hole’s modern-art distillery, a frustratingly closed-off stop at Bulleit, and then a full sprint to Four Roses before closing. We capped the chaos with a last-second run into Woodford Reserve so Bob could grab the final ingredient for his “best old fashioned in the world” mission—because Mr. Lemon may have issues, but we stay committed to the bit.
