We were only supposed to be gone 10–14 days… and somehow it turned into 31. In this video, we go back to Florida to pick up Mr. Lemon after leaving him in an offsite airport lot with the power ON, the fridge running, and a broken window taped up like a science experiment. Between a wedding and my dental emergency (hello, surprise $1,500), we were stuck in Arizona way longer than planned—and the whole time we had that low-grade vanlife anxiety of, “Are the batteries dead? Is the fridge a mold bomb? Did we just invite mice to dinner?” The good news: the solar kept us at 95%, the van started, and the tape actually did its job (even after rain). The other good news: the parking bill wasn’t the nightmare we expected—$8.95/day for 31 days, which felt like an actual blessing after the month we had. Then we finally leave Florida (for real this time), cross into Georgia, and Bob tackles the window regulator repair so we can stop living with a broken passenger window. Big takeaway: plans change, so our “leave-the-van” checklist has to be the same whether it’s 2 days or 2 months—dump tanks, empty/turn off the fridge, kill the electrical system, clean out food/trash/dishes, and consider mouse traps. It worked out this time, but the stress wasn’t worth it.
