Good morning from Mr. Lemon, who is officially on borrowed time and borrowed power. Our alternator is toast (again), so we’ve been limping along relying 100% on solar to keep our Lithionics batteries alive. I walk you through what our battery percentages looked like, how we’re watching three different apps, and why we’re trying hard to avoid RV parks—because a surprise $1,200 alternator kit was definitely not in November’s budget. Also: finding the right alternator has been a whole saga (Amazon cancellations, ordering the full kit, and hoping it shows up and actually works). Even with all that chaos, Kentucky was worth it. We headed to Mammoth Cave National Park and did the Mammoth Passage cave tour, learned how insanely massive the system is (hundreds of miles mapped), and found out it’s a dry cave—which surprised me. Then the Lemon Route penalty box struck again: “Sunset Shutdown,” meaning we had to be parked the moment the sun set… ready or not. Cue spotty internet, last-minute audibles, a frantic Cracker Barrel hunt, and yes—an accidental manure situation that made the van smell absolutely terrible. We still made it in time, cleaned up the interior explosion, and ended the night with Cracker Barrel biscuits and spaghetti while watching our battery like a hawk.
