We kicked off 2026 down in Florida with one goal: knock out all 50 states by Class B van before the year’s over. This stop puts us at state number 11, and we’re rolling the “Lemon Route” — free camps, unexpected places, and figuring out vanlife-ish as we go. In this video we hit St. Augustine, the oldest continuously occupied European-founded city in the U.S., and right away we learned the first lesson: downtown parking is no joke. Plan to pay, and plan to be patient. Once we finally got parked, we went full tourist mode — food with a view (fish and chips + Guinness for me, shepherd’s pie for Hillary), walking St. George Street, and then diving into history at Castillo de San Marcos. The fort is seriously impressive and well preserved, and the America the Beautiful pass came in clutch. After that, we climbed the St. Augustine Lighthouse (219 steps… my legs were on fire), and I’ll say it: for $17 a person, it’s worth it. Then our plan fell apart. I thought I booked Anastasia Island State Park… turns out I didn’t hit “complete,” and there were no RV sites available. So we pivoted, made lemonade out of lemons, and took our egg salad sandwiches to Crescent Beach for sunset — because that’s vanlife, and sometimes you just make it work.
